We were really happy to be asked by Mara to come and take part in a seaweed event at the Botanics on the 14th and 15th of September.
We brought along some tasty canapés made at the bistro using lovely seasonal ingredients and enhanced by Mara seaweed flakes. Our shortbread with shony flakes always goes down really well with our home-made ice creams a the bistro so it was no surprise to see it disappear pretty quickly! Then there was grouse cured at the bistro with sweet cicely and kombu. The most popular sample was home-smoked pollack pate on sour-dough toast with the beautifully coloured purple dulse flakes sprinkled over the top.
It was a great weekend with loads of interest from the public and some pretty tasty but also very healthy food – what’s not to like?!
