Larder at Whitmuir

Whitmuir Farm, West Linton.

We can’t believe how fast it’s come around but our last day at Whitmuir Farm was on Friday 30th September 2016.

We’ve been in residence at the farm cafe for a whole year and although it feels like much less, it’s time for us to hand the cafe back over to Heather and her team. We’re really happy to say that Val Brunton who used to run the Sunflower restaurant in Peebles (and who has been working with us for the past few months) will be taking forward management of the cafe. We’ve no doubt she’ll take it from strength to strength.

It’s been an incredible year with a huge insight into daily life for one of our suppliers. We’ve always known how hard our producers work to bring us the best Scottish produce each year, but we can safely say that it’s a whole lot harder than we thought! The ever changing weather plays a huge role in the unpredictability of the landscape and the way Pete, Heather and the team at Whitmuir deal with this is incredibly admirable – especially in the winter months.

We have even more respect for them and all the other incredible producers we use and we wish them all the best for a great future in the Borders.

Thanks so much to our fantastic team at the cafe – we’ve loved working with them and all the other businesses at Whitmuir including Quercus Plants and Dancing Light Gallery.
